Training Course NHSMUN 2009

To guarantee an adequate participation in the simulation of all the students involved, the Association, together with its own teaching staff and with the teachers of its Scientific Committee in cooperation with international diplomacy experts, organizes a specific 4-month training course, during which the students will be provided with all the training and expertise necessary to successfully participate in the Models. 
The course plan is articulated to include the study and analysis of each single country being represented, of the rules of procedure and the necessary linguistic, technical and communicative skills.
The course includes 60 hours of face- to- face in class lessons and 70 hours of simulation.


All the various phases of the simulation are covered: from the drawing-up of the position paper to the preparation of the resolutions;  from the individual speeches to the strategies to be adopted in the committees. According to agreements reached with each university faculty and school, the students in the training course and who take part in the final simulation will be assigned the relative credits valid towards their university degrees and secondary school diplomas.
Upon completion of the simulation, each participant will receive a Certificate of Participation issued by the Consules Association and by the organizing body.

 
The training course includes the following seminar sessions:
 
 What is the MUN? General presentation of the simulation, simulation structure and its didactics;
 The International Organizations
and United Nations
 Role and functions of the main international organizations in the world;
 Structure and
operation of UN
 The origin of the United Nations: goals, structure and power;
Position Paper
 Contents and modality of editing;
Historical and constitutional Analysis The constitutional jurisdiction of the represented Country and its recent evolution in the light of the worldwide integration;
 Political economy Macroeconomics aspects of internal and foreign economy of the represented Country;
International policy  Relations between the represented Country and the international political community;
Represented country and the UN Relations between the Represented Country and the United Nations. Analysis of the topics related to the represented country and discussed by the United Nations;
 Modality rules Simulation modality rules;
 How to write a resolution  Structure, form and content of resolutions and reports. Drawing up practical test;
 Commission strategies Practical remarks and planning of all the stages of the simulation;
 Speech Writing & Public Speaking  Techniques in speech writing to be held in each specific commission as well as different diplomatic approaches necessary for the incisiveness of the argument itself;
 Speech Laboratory How to make the communication of each delegate effective that is the better way to show the point of view of the Represented country in front of the delegates audience;
   
 Each student will be provided with the necessary didactic material.
