National High School Model United Nations |
New York, 17/24 March 2009Run directly by the Department of General Culture through the IMUNA (International Model United Nations Association), the National High School Model United Nations represents, at present, the greatest simulation of multilateral diplomatic process limited to high-school students. The New York model is extremely educational from both a didactic and personal experience point of view.
The model is structured in several different parts:
- the "Opening Ceremony" which takes place in the Hall of the UN General Assembly during which the delegates attending the Conference are received.
- the "Guest Speaker Programme", during which each commission meets the world international diplomacy representatives in order to discuss topics related to the subjects included on the Commission agenda.
- the "Mission Briefing" is the meeting with the diplomatic delegation of the country represented at the concerning office of the UN permanent mission.
- the "Plenary Session", is an occasion of presentation and formal voting of the resolutions and reports in the General Assembly and ECOSOC premises at the UN.
- the "Closing Ceremony" is the official closing followed by an awards ceremony.
