 | | “…Consules Association recognizes the importance of international mobility as an excellent component of both educational and professional training - and the importance of promoting initiatives in the framework of international relations and society’s knowledge of international organizations.” |
Towards new worldsBasing all our social activities on a line of philosophy that is alert and open to international changes, as of January 2007 Consules has offered its first courses of Arabic and Chinese language; these two languages clearly represent the necessity of an international education that must keep up with social-cultural developments in a globalized world and be ever closer to different cultures and political systems.
Many jobs on today’s market require a knowledge of these languages, but the courses available are not exhaustive and are only at the start-up stage. Consules recognizes the need to make its contribution and thanks to the excellent professional qualities of the teaching staff and the special attention paid by the organization to the students’ needs, it offers courses that will bring both the university world and the professional world closer towards new expectations and international roles. We are fully aware of the fact that the language difference is the only real barrier left separating us from the Arab and the Chinese world, whose increasing presence in the Western scenario is making a great impact.
THE COURSESThe learning process of Arabic and Chinese languages - even if they are quite different, requires a general, basic overview because their alphabets, pronunciation and reading system are very different from the Italian one. Therefore, the preliminary courses offered for these two languages mainly concentrate on the study of the phonetic alphabets and the basic grammar structures. In fact, we firmly believe that it is imperative to properly learn the basic language principles in order to facilitate use in the professional world.
International mobility is our basic fundamental principle in the framework of the approach to the global system. For those interested, following the course, students will be given the opportunity to study abroad so that the language skills they acquired throughout the course can be put into practice and improved. During the course itself, we organize seminars and conferences, on topics concerning Arab and Chinese culture, held by experts in this field. The seminars and conferences are aimed at giving the participants a wider understanding of the two worlds and especially of those social cultural aspects that are peculiar to them. Courses Organization Timetable and ClassesThe next courses will begin in September/October 2008 and will end in June 2009. During the a.y. 2008/2009, both beginner and intermediate levels will be offered for each language.
Each lesson lasts two hours and will be held once a week, for a total of 27 weeks over the 6 month period.
The lessons will be held at the Association’s headquarters in Via Annone 4C, Rome in the evening in order to facilitate the attendance of all.
The classes will be limited to no more than 12 students, thus guaranteeing the active participation and attention of all. Each participant will have the real opportunity to interact with the teacher, who, in turn, will be able to adapt the method to the specific needs of each single student.
As soon as we receive all the application forms, we will communicate the specific timetable and assign the classes. Attendance, exercises, certificationsThe Association will issue a certificate of attendance to all the participants. To obtain this certificate, the participants must attend a minimum of 75% of the total hours of the course and they also have to sit both oral and written mid –term and final exams. The above mentioned constraining rules have been set in the interest of all the participants thus assuring the quality and professionalism of the language course itself. Study sessions abroadThe study session abroad will begin at the end of the course. They are optional but we strongly recommend participation. The students who decide to take part in the summer sessions will also receive a Certificate from the relative institute which will no-doubt enhance the quality of the course.
